Sr. Mūmbi Kīgūtha, CPPS, a Sister of the Precious Blood (Dayton, Ohio), was born and raised in Kenya but currently resides in Silver Spring, Maryland. She ministers full-time as president of Friends in Solidarity, a nonprofit that supports development efforts in South Sudan. Mūmbi is also the founder/director of Watawa wa Taa, an initiative aimed at reimagining and revitalizing religious life for African women, and is co-founder/co-director of Kuibuka, a project that offers workshops for African sisters and conducts research on the safeguarding of sisters. In addition to earning a master of business administration and a bachelor of commerce degree from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa, Mūmbi has a graduate theological degree in justice ministry and a certificate in pastoral ministry, both from the Catholic Theological Union. She is pursuing a Ph.D. in transformative social change from Saybrook University.
