Seminar on Pope Francis, Catholic Social Thought, and Public Life
This seminar of less than 20 students, taught by Kim Daniels, director of the Initiative on Catholic Social Thought and Public Life, analyzes the principal themes of Catholic social thought in the context of Pope Francis’ leadership and priorities.
The seminar introduces these themes and then explores their application to key issues in American public life such as poverty and economic justice, human life and dignity, migration, religious freedom, war and peace, and environmental issues. The seminar centers around discussion among participants, and is based on readings and other materials that can help us understand the influence of Catholic social thought and Pope Francis on U.S. public life.
