Jean Welch Hill
Fellow (2026-2027), Initiative on Catholic Social Thought and Public Life
Jean Welch Hill is the executive director of the Washington State Catholic Conference (WSCC). Before joining the WSCC, Jean worked for Salt Lake County, developing systemic improvements to better assist people experiencing cycles of homelessness and criminal justice involvement. Jean previously served as the director of the Office of Life, Justice and Peace and government liaison in the Diocese of Salt Lake City, where her work included a Catholic Press Association award-winning column focused on Catholic social doctrine in the Intermountain Catholic. Before engaging full-time in Catholic advocacy, Jean served as an attorney at the Utah State Board of Education and as the prosecutor for the Professional Practices Advisory Commission of the Board and worked as an editorial writer for the Salt Lake Tribune.
