Founder’s Appeal
John Carr, the Initiative’s founder, retired at the end of 2025 after more than a dozen years at the Initiative and more than 50 years of leadership at the intersection of faith, Catholic social thought, and public life. We are deeply grateful for his founding vision and legacy, and for his impressive contributions to Georgetown, our Church, and our nation.
One of John’s greatest contributions throughout his career was identifying, encouraging, mentoring, and supporting young people to become leaders on Catholic social thought in public life. For this reason, we invite you to contribute to a special Founder’s Appeal within the Initiative to support our ongoing and new efforts to reach out to young people and encourage them to be leaders in advancing the principles of Catholic social teaching.
