Finding Strength in Solidarity

A Conversation with Bishop Evelio Menjivar

Family waits outside of a U.S. Port of Entry at the Mexican border

This gathering for Georgetown students will feature Bishop Evelio Menjivar (H'24), whose own forced migration from El Salvador and experience as an undocumented person in the United States reflect hope, faith, and solidarity.

This conversation with Bishop Menjivar, auxiliary bishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Washington, will provide a space to foster connection, reflection, and hope amidst the urgent challenges facing migrants and refugees, especially given the climate of fear and exclusion caused by the Trump administration’s migration and deportation policies in recent months. Recognizing that many students may be suffering in various ways, this gathering will provide a supportive environment for dialogue and shared faith to explore ways to translate compassion into action.

Food and drink will be provided.
