An Evening of Testimony

An Invitation to Hope

Religious faith communities, universities, and many other organizations are grappling with a crisis of child sexual abuse and adult sexual misconduct. Listening to victims and survivors, exploring best practices for listening and offering support, and bearing witness to the devastating and unresolved atrocity of clergy sexual abuse within a faith community are integral to community healing.

At this collaborative and educational event, Mark Joseph Williams, a survivor and advocate, and Mary Glowaski, victim assistance coordinator at the Catholic Diocese of Fort Wayne in South Bend, Indiana, will join Rev. Gerard J. McGlone, S.J., a survivor and Berkley Center senior research fellow, to present survivors’ perspectives on the clergy sexual abuse crisis in one faith community. It is part of the Global Culture of Safeguarding Program, Georgetown University.

This event is co-sponsored by Georgetown University’s Berkley Center for Religion, Peace, and World Affairs, Collaborative on Global Children's Issues, and Initiative on Catholic Social Thought and Public Life, with the Saint John Neumann ACTION Committee in Reston, Virginia.
