Directions to Initiative Offices and Dialogue Venues

Directions to the Initiative’s Offices

To reach the Initiative’s office (Maguire 205 or Maguire 208),  enter Healy Hall and take either the elevator or the stairs at the south end of the building to the second floor. Turn left when you arrive on the second floor and walk down the hallway. Maguire 205 will be on the right and Maguire 208 will be on the left.

Getting to Georgetown University

Parking

Street parking around campus is limited and strictly monitored. Most streets require a Zone 2 residential permit issued by the District of Columbia for parking for longer than two hours. A limited number of metered spaces are available on Reservoir Road, 37th Street and Prospect Street. 

A limited number of daily parking spaces are available in the Southwest Garage and can be reached by entering campus from Canal Road, via M Street: 

  • From Downtown DC: Drive west on M Street, which becomes Canal Road after the Key Bridge. Turn right at the sign for Georgetown University, and enter the garage on the right. 
  • From VA: Cross the Key Bridge and turn left onto M Street, which becomes Canal Road. Turn right at the sign for Georgetown University, and enter the garage on the right.
  • From MD: Drive south on Wisconsin Avenue and turn right onto M Street. Drive past the Key Bridge, where M Street becomes Canal Road. Turn right at the sign for Georgetown University, and enter the garage on the right. 

Hourly parking rate: $5.00
Daily parking rate: $25.00
Daily parking rate (after 3:00 pm): $15.00

Note: the Southwest Garage is a self-pay campus garage. Upon exiting, visitors can pay by credit card at the exit gate or bring the ticket to the Pay Station on the ground floor lobby of Kennedy Hall to pay with cash or credit card.

Public Transportation

Georgetown University runs shuttles to both the Rosslyn (Silver/Orange/Blue lines) and Dupont Circle (Red line) Metro stations:

The Rosslyn GUTS route connects the Main Campus with the Rosslyn Metro Station on the Blue, Orange, and Silver Lines. The bus runs Monday - Friday from 4:45 am to 12:00 am. The Rosslyn stop is located at 19th Street and North Moore Street. To reach the metro station, walk one block straight on North Moore Street.

The Dupont Circle GUTS routes connects the Main Campus with the Dupont Circle Metro Station on the Red Line. The bus runs Monday - Friday from 6:00 am to 12:00 am.  The Dupont Circle stop is located at 20th Street and Massachusetts Avenue, NW.

Directions to Dialogue Venues on Georgetown’s Main Campus

Copley Formal Lounge (Copley Hall)

From the main gates: Follow the diagonal sidewalk across the front lawn. The entrance to Copley Formal Lounge is located at the end of the walkway on the left-hand side. There is a small staircase leading up to the door on the side of Copley Hall, directly adjacent to Red Square, a large area paved with red bricks. 

From Southwest Garage: Walk uphill on Library Walk toward the main gates of the University, located at 37th and O Streets. Turn left at Healy Hall (the large gothic building located directly across from the front gates) and continue down the sidewalk past the statue and toward Copley Hall, the building located immediately to the left. The entrance to Copley Formal Lounge is at the far end of the building and up a small staircase, adjacent to Red Square, a large area paved with red bricks.

Gaston Hall (Healy Hall)

From the main gates: Walk straight ahead and enter Healy Hall through the main entrance. Turn left and walk down a short hallway to locate either the elevator or stairs, and proceed to the third floor.

From Southwest Garage: Exit the garage and walk uphill on Library Walk towards Lauinger Library. Turn left at the top of the hill towards Healy Hall. Enter Healy Hall through the main entrance on the right side of the building, which faces the university's main gates. Turn left and walk down a short hallway to locate either the elevator or stairs, and proceed to the third floor. There will be signage and staff on the first floor of Healy Hall to assist with directions.

ICC Auditorium (Edward B. Bunn, S.J. Intercultural Center)

From the main gates: Once you enter through the main gates, walk towards the statue of Archbishop John Carroll. Just past the statue and on the right is a dark gray stone building called Copley Hall. Walk to the right along the outside of Copley on the walkway in front of the building until you reach the north end of the building. You’ll see Red Square, a large area paved with red bricks. The ICC is the large building across Red Square on the far end. Once inside the front doors, walk to the right of the lobby you will see a set of steep stairs on the right. Those stars lead to the entrance of the auditorium. 

From the Southwest Garage: Exit the garage and walk uphill on Library Walk towards Lauinger Library and turn left. Walk across campus (Healy Hall will be to your left, the main gates will be to your right). Continue straight past Copley Hall, and you’ll see “Red Square,” a large area paved with red bricks. The ICC is the large building across Red Square on the far end. Once inside the front doors, walk to the right of the lobby you will see a set of steep stairs on the right. Those stars lead to the entrance of the auditorium. 

Riggs Library (Healy Hall)

From the main gates: Walk straight ahead and enter Healy Hall. Walk to the far (south) side of the building to use either the elevator or stairs to get to the third floor. As you exit the elevator or stairwell, Riggs Library is in the blue carpeted area.

From Southwest Garage: Exit Southwest Garage and walk uphill on Library Walk toward the main gates of the University. Turn left towards Healy Hall as you approach Lauinger Library. Enter Healy Hall through the first entrance on the left side of the building. Go up a short flight of stairs and turn left to find the elevator or the stairs. Use either the elevator or stairs to get to the third floor. As you exit the elevator or stairwell, Riggs Library is in the blue carpeted area.
