In 2013 Georgetown President John J. DeGioia invited John Carr to launch the Initiative on Catholic Social Thought and Public Life at Georgetown – a promising but untested idea. Since then, the Initiative has become a respected national center of principled and civil dialogue on faith and public life, a leader in sharing Catholic social teaching and the message of Pope Francis, and a distinctive place of encouragement and formation for young and Latino leaders.
